What is this?

"Maps from the Archives" is a Team Fortress 2 server that runs a large variety of maps sourced from the TF2 custom map archival project.

The server's mapcycle contains maps at any given time, however, every the server's maps are cleared out and replaced with another completely random maps pulled from the archive.

Neat! Is it all stock gamemodes?

Nope! Many of the maps from the archive were built for custom gamemodes, so the server runs a large variety of different modes.

Gamemodes you can expect to see include:

  • Versus Saxton Hale (Redsun Rewrite)
  • Deathrun
  • Dodgeball
  • Deathmatch
  • Other strange and unique gamemodes built into the maps...

The server will of course also inevitably end up on things such as trade, idle and achievement maps.

This map sucks!

To account for potential issues such as broken, unplayable, bad or offensive maps the server supports the !rtv command which can allow players to vote to skip the current map.

Depending on server activity, a proper reporting system may be looked into to allow particularly troublesome maps to be reported, removed from the mapcycle and blacklisted.
